alteration to antique belt?

My mother received a really cool belt when she like 16, from her sister, its brown leather, and has a copper piece sign as a buckle, it’s seriously from the 60′s she gave it to me but iv recently lost weight and now its too big, should i put another notch in it, or keep how it is?
