I can’t believe I found this book, first printing, fantastic condition, AND the author signed it! I checked out the website, www.abebooks.com, and there are 2 of the same priced at almost $1,000 each (with no signature). I’d love to keep this book but really feel it may be better off with someone who would take care of it, and I could really use the cash anyway.

I’ll take it around to all the antique stores, bookstores, museum, universities, etc., but is there someplace else I should be looking to get the best price?

I go to an antique store and there is a sign on the door that says “Help Wanted.” The owner of the store has two of the same shop and doesn’t work at the one I applied to. I asked for an application and took it home and returned with it complete a half hour later. Everyone was very sweet there. A few days pass by and I hear nothing so I return to the store and as about the status of my application. They said it is up to the owner to do the hiring but they said they will remind him about it. A few more days pass by and still nothing. I call the store the manager works at and he said he has heard about me and he will look at the application and call me. A few days go by and still nothing. I call again and a sweet old lady picks up and said “Oh I know about you yes it’s good you have called b/c we are very busy.” It’s been a few days since that and I still haven’t gotten a call. I really want the job and I am starting to get worried.

I don’t think it’s a monogram, because I’ve seen the very same sign on a few of them.
In the olden days, people used mourning lockets, say, with a lock of hair in them, to remember the dead. Could this be something about alpha and Omega (a Biblical symbol for Christ, the beginning and the end, like the start and end of the Greek alphabet)?
What would the iota mean on a locket, then? I think you could be right. I have also seen some that look like an S with three Is superimposed — I thought of IHS, but not sure

I have a 1919-1932 autographed baseball by Tony Lizzri who is a member of the hall of fame and played for the Yankees. I am wondering what the value of this autographed ball is? I bought this at an antique shop and never noticed a signature. We looked at more closely after purchasing and noticed it was signed. The ball has red stiching and very old. Nothing else is written on the ball. If you could help that would be great. Thanks ,

Okay, I have no clue what this is. On the cover, it says Rubaiyat with what to me looks like mistletoe around it. It has some more designs around the edge of the front cover. It is red. On the front page, it says “Montii Woodall – 1941″

On the cover page, it says “Rubaiyat of Omar Khayyam. The Astronomer=Poet of Persia. Rendered into English Verse. Edward Fitzgerald. New York and London. G.D. Dutnam’s Sons. The knickerbocker press.”

In the middle of the page, it has 2 boy angels with wings holding up a sign says GPPS, and a crane in front of the sign.
